Where is The Prison of Anemas?
The Prison of Anemas is located Karagümrük area in Fatih district of Istanbul, is next to city wall(to Golden Horn).It was one of the largest palace complex in Byzantine period. It has 14 rooms at the bottom of the cell chamber and consists of two-storey basement. Some famous turkish movie(Kahpe Bizans, Şahmaran, Kara Murat)'s some scenes were taken here.
History of The Prison of Anemas
The Prison of Anemas took name from Micheal Anemas. Micheal Anemas, a Byzantine general who rose in unsuccessful revolt against Emperor Alexios I Komnenos in 1107 years and was the first person to be imprisoned there.
How to Go The Prison of Anemas?
You can see after get off Ayvansaray station- Metrobus. When you get off, you look to city walls and you can see. After Ayvansaray station you walk for 10 minute to reach The Prison Anemas.
